SS410(S41000,W Nr.1.4006,DIN X12Cr13) is a martensitic stainless steel with high mechanical properties and is ferromagnetic in the annealing and hardening condition. SS410 contains the minimum amount of chromium to impact stainless steel properties. SS410 resists oxidation and scaling up to 1200 Deg F.Hardness is one of the SS410’s best features. It resists abrasion and wear better than most 300 series stainless steels.
SS410 is also a kind of hardenable, straight-chromium stainless steel which combines the superior wear resistance of high carbon alloys with the excellent corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steel.
Oil quenching this alloy from temperatures between 1800 Deg F to 1950DegF, produce the highest strength and/or wear resistance as well as corrosion resistance. A range of as-quenched hardnesses is achieved by varying the carbon level from 0.15% maximum in SS410.
